Chisholm Outdoor Leadership Specialisation – Bushwalking (Difficult / Trackless areas)

Learn to manage and lead groups confidently and safely in remote bushwalking locations

Bushwalking (Difficult / Trackless areas)
Bushwalking in difficult or trackless areas is described in the Outdoor Recreation Training Package as:

“where there are limited modifications to the natural surfaces so that track alignment is indistinct in places, there is minimal clearance along the track, signage is minimal and only for management purposes, there are terrain and manmade hazards and the possibility for changes in weather and visibility exists”

This module covers personal bushwalking skills in remote locations, leadership and guiding skills, navigation, group management and decision making. Students must be largely self responsible whilst developing the skills to consider the potential needs of the rest of the group.

Students will experience a 5 day navigation focused program in the Grampians and a 4 day snow walk in the Australian Alps.
