Snorkelling Equipment
May 26th, 2006 at 10:15am

Hi everyone,

I would like to get into some more snorkelling and was wondering if anyone knows of any good brands or types of snorkelling gear to buy or stay away from?

I will be mainly doing this with mates on weekends and will always have the gear handy in my kayak.

I am also completing my snorkelling insturctors qualification at the end of the year and would like to get the gear now, so I can put it to good use and practice more over my mid year break.

Any adivce anyone can give would be great,

Cheers,
Wink

i can't remember the brands in particular, but it seems that with diving/snorkeling gear, you get what you pay for...
though sometimes k-mart has stuff that is worth buying as a spare...

assuming you buy decent gear, rather than brand, fit is the most important factor (eg. masks, wetsuits, fins) - eg a really good brand/expensive mask is useless if it doesnt fit your face (i know, i have a weird face)

there are occasional bargains to be had from anaconda (and they have a good range) and dive shops are (generally) really $$$

thanks Hairy,

Yeah I went into a dive shop on ther weekened and priced some equipment up. Looking at around $350-400.

This should get me some good quality gear that fits well and will last a long time.

Then I can move into other areas if I want to be it Scuba or whatever,

Cheers,
Wink
