Man Vs. Wild
May 17th, 2010 at 10:26pm

How Good is Bear? Anyone been watching it? Man, thats what outdoor rec should be. No risk management (Well, behind the scenes i would hate to think...). Tonights episode all about swift water rescue/river crossings/how to fix a broken canoe using sap from a tree. Sure beats the hell out of getting a plastic welder. And seeking and stalking beavers to eat...What a man!

I'm a fan, but not when my kids get the urge to leave all their equipment behind and kill every animal in sight!

YES... `Bear Grylls`   You`ve gotta like the bloke  Cool - It`s about the only thing on the box that I don`t want to miss.

There`s alot of rumours that him and the crew stay in hotels at night when their on location but you can tell when he`s spent the night out as he always looks like death warmed up  Smiley

Anyway I don`t care what they say Anyone who jumps into an artic plunge pool stark naked and then swims under the ice  Shocked to demonstrate how to combat hypothermia gets my total respect.

While Bear is good have a look at Les Stroud, he's a canadian that does the same sort of show without a crew.  He gets dropped off for 7 days at a time with no help and carrying all his own camera equipment.

Not a fan at all. I think too many people will be going out into the bush with the wrong mindset. Also they may go out thinking they can do all this wicked cool stuff because they saw it on TV.

Les Stroud is a legend! Here's a great story of his. I actually just bought his book I got it through one of Groupons online deals, and so far it's great! Defanitely recommend it

OMG you lot are fully lame if you think that show, anyone or anything in it is real. If this is the stuff you guys are sucking up then god help the outdoor ed industry. If you love that crap then I guess it's no wonder all these stupid reality TV shows are popping up everywhere.

Sad
