grazing inthe Victorian Alps

hi all
you have probably heard that the new government in Victoria has re-introduced cattle grazing into sections of the Alpine National Park.

The government argues that this is to do research into possible fuel reduction strategies. Many in the community point to the decades of research that clearly shows that alpine grazing does not 'reduce blazing'.

If cattle are introduced on a larger scale, it can be expected that this will start to impact on substantial areas of the High Country and will certainly impact on the receational experience of many Park users.

If this issue concerns you, you may want to send an email to the Premier and Environment Minister. You can find details on doing this by searching for 'mountain journal alpine grazing'.

many thanks, Cam
