Most students who
complete our courses say that they are wiser and have a greater
appreciation of the outdoors. They feel more capable, more confident
and much
clearer about relationships, the community and the natural environment.
They have
an increased ability to communicate, to resolve conflicts and most
importantly to lead
others.
They are also highly employable.

Where do these courses
lead? |

Many of our graduates have gone on to very rewarding
careers in the Outdoor Recreation industry.
There are three general areas that graduates
enter:
- Adventure Tourism
- Outdoor Education and Leadership (with established pathways
to degree courses.)
- Specialised Instructors

How long is this course? |

This is a two year
course but you have the option to exit after one year at CertificateIV
level.

Where is the course run? |
| |
The course is delivered
in strategic partnership with the Outdoor Education Group (OEG).
Swinburne has a classroom, Swinburne Outdoors, located at OEG's
National Base in Eildon, North East Victoria. The majority of theory
sessions are conducted at our Healesville campus. Activity instruction
takes place at appropriate local and rural sites.

How much does the course
cost? |

**$877.00 Tuition Fee ($55.00 concession)
**$42.00 General Services Fee (GSF)
Materials Fee
$3200.00
Additional Costs
** $1300.00 (for textbooks, external accreditation
and activity costs such as Instructor Handbooks, Trail Passes, Wilderness
First Aid, Canoeing Assessments etc.)
** Please note these costs are based on those
for 2006 courses and are subject to review and change. Students
should expect some upward movement in external accreditation costs.

Can I just do the first
year? |

Yes. Graduates who successfully
complete the first year only will be awarded a Certificate IV in
Outdoor Recreation.

Do I need to live in
Eildon? |
| |
It is recommended, but not essential,
that students live in Eildon or the surrounding area. Students often
live together and available houses can be found by contacting the
local real estate agents, checking the OEG notice board or by contacting
other students.
|
We should also mention that it is a year of fun,
learning new skills, meeting people,
sharing energy and a love of the natural environment.
