Jaye
Hill
(Cert. IV in Outdoor Recreation 2000).
Group Leader, Somerset Outdoor Learning Centre.
“My passion for the outdoors was developed through
the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. I particularly loved bushwalking
and expeditioning, as well as working with others in the outdoors. Office-work
provided me with a limited opportunity to travel to various countries
and participate in a range of outdoor activities. Completion of the Certificate
IV course enabled me to secure an excellent job as a group leader and
I now look forward to going to work every morning.”
Judd
Hill
(Cert. IV in Outdoor Recreation 2000).
Sea-kayaking Guide, World Expeditions
“Working as a chef in some of Sydney's finest
restaurants was very rewarding and challenging, but it didn't allow me
enough time to explore my passion - outdoor pursuits. I made the decision
to quit work and study outdoor recreation. It soon became apparent that
with the training I received in adventure tourism, I would be able to
combine my food preparation skills with outdoor activities. I am happiest
when I'm sea kayaking and my clients are happy when I cook up a feast
on a secluded tropical island."
Kerriann
Burns
(Cert II and IV in Outdoor Recreation 2003 and 2004).
Program Officer/ Outdoor Leader, Lake Tinaroo Active Recreation Centre
Having grown up as a country kid, I shared a passion
for the outdoors with my family. This continued when I took Outdoor Pursuits
as a subject in year 11 and 12. Everyone always dreams of working in a
job they love; and now thanks to the TAFE’s Outdoor Recreation courses,
I’m now qualified and in a well-paid job doing what I love. The
Outdoor Recreation industry is rapidly growing around the world and can
take me anywhere I want to go.
