Somerset Outdoor Learning is recruiting for our traineeship program, with an expected late January 2027 start. Applications close 25 October 2026.

A Traineeship is a great way to gain qualifications and put new skills into practice while earning an income. No prior experience necessary.

Certificate III & IV in Outdoor Leadership
Regular income whether working, training or on leave — $33,004–$44,142 in Phase 1, rising to $70,000–$75,000 once qualified as a Group Leader
$1,000 gear allowance plus access to discounted equipment
A dedicated trainer onsite to consolidate training in the workplace
Training and qualifications in bushwalking, canoeing, abseiling, rock climbing and more
Subsidised onsite accommodation available (optional, from $90/week)
Meals included while on camp programs
Guaranteed employment, ongoing training, mentorship and income*
4-day average working week and around 8 weeks of holiday a year
