Leading Australian online travel, Bestjet, is boasting sky-high returns with a 2016 gross profit of more than $900K, up 35 percent on last year.

Bestjet’s TTV reached $231 million for the 2016 financial year, profitability also increased up 35% to $928,000 before tax.

Now in its fourth year of trading, Bestjet has rapidly grown to become the fourth largest online travel agent in the country with more than 31 percent of the market share.

The company is meeting the needs of savvy Australians seeking discounted domestic and international flights with a faster and more efficient booking experience.

Bestjet Managing Director Rachel James said the profit posted is the result of the online platform maintaining low overheads, driven by a customer-centric, market- responsive team of professionals.

“We continue to exceed our competitors because we know what travellers want. Bestjet’s software is purpose-built to provide a streamlined, safe and secure booking system,” she said.

Mrs James attributes the company’s success to its use of leading technology, which makes Bestjet’s online booking system the most intuitive in the sector.

“Travel starts with the research and booking stage, and Bestjet responds with no booking charges, no hidden fees and an immediate email following the booking, which includes all the booking details,” she said.

“Less overheads means bigger discounts for our customers who want to know they’re getting the best deal first time, every time.

“Bestjet is a highly responsive company that monitors the market more than any other player. We even offer a fee-free debit payment option, which is hard to find in this industry.”

Mrs James has her sights set on jetting ahead and continuing to shake up the travel industry by introducing discounted cruise travel to Bestjet’s offering.

“We have so many opportunities ahead of us. One area of our expansion plans I’m particularly excited about is the prospect of incorporating cruises into our offering, responding to the demands of a very loyal cruising market,” she said.

According to Mrs James, Bestjet’s team are highly experienced IT and industry professionals which are pivotal to the ongoing success of the business.

“We may be an online business, but it’s the people behind the scenes that contribute greatly to our success. Travellers want discounted online flights with the security of being able to ask questions if needed, so we invest a great deal in our people and training.”

“I am passionate about continuing to improve Bestjet’s operations, providing a positive experience for customers and exploring new areas of growth.”
