SOMERSET OUTDOOR LEARNING IS RECRUITING FOR FIXED-TERM GROUP LEADERS

Somerset is located 90mins from Sydney on the glorious Colo River.
Operating 2-6 day journey-style programs (including Duke of Ed) from our basecamp, utilising the River and surrounding bush.
We have over 20 fixed private campsites and over 20 activity areas that groups move between to complete their experience.
Groups are mostly in the Year 5-10 age group (11-17 years old).
Somerset has a proud history in the outdoor education space since 1981 and over that time we have employed 1000’s of people across all areas of operation.

We are recruiting for Fixed-term Leaders for a busy Semester 2 2024 season. (mid July to mid Dec).

Very competitive remuneration and conditions;

Typically, a full work load would attract the following:

Fixed Term Level 2 Semester contract	~ $30,200	$27.80 /hr +10% incentive
Accrued Annual leave Paid out	~ $2300 varies on amount of days worked over semester
Overnight Allowances	~ $1200 average
Estimated Semester Earnings	~ $33,700	a Full Year then being ~ $ 67,400 with ½ Dec, Jan and a large portion of June and July off

Fixed-term Level 2 Leader program day rate with overnight allowance reaching $452.87
Fixed-term Leader positions attract annual and personal leave.
Ongoing reviews with room to progress to GL3 for exceptional staff in shorter time frame
Superannuation payments in accordance with legislation
We provide; all meals and tent accomm whilst on program; first aid kit and uniform; all required activity and campsite equipment and ongoing training and development.
A thorough familiarisation/training days to get you up-to-speed
Onsite accommodation options are available on a permanent or casual basis.

Group Leading positions require;

Certificate IV in Outdoor Rec / Leadership
NSW WWCC
Competencies in canoeing or kayaking, bushwalking & abseil or climbing,
Remote or Wilderness First Aid (or the ability to acquire)

Casual work with Somerset. Our Level 2 Casual Leader pay rate is $35.90/hr plus overnight allowances, please get in touch if you’d like to discuss this option and your availability.
