Assistant Operations Manager

The Assistant Operations Manager works with the Operations Manager to ensure that all programs are prepared. This enables the Outdoor Education team to deliver high-quality programs.

The Assistant Operations Manager will provide high quality leadership to the field team when Program Directing and mentor Assistant Directors and Team Leaders. The Assistant Operations Manager will stand in for the Operations Manager as required.

This role shares an office and field-based load. It includes working in site based and wilderness settings between 1 - 9 days in duration.

In this role you would:
  • Be a Program Director and Duke of Edinburgh Team Leader.
  • Effectively facilitate and deliver Outdoor Education Programs for students aged between 7-18 including pre-program preparation, logistics, on program logistic and post program follow up with clients.
  • Ensure the highest standard of risk management is adhered to.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with management of Outdoor Education and Duke of Edinburgh Programs.
  • Assist with management and compliance with all licenses, policies and legislation.
  • Assist with bookings and reservations of external providers.
  • Assist with school presentations.
  • Assist in the managing and forecasting of annual logistical requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation and relevant experience.
  • A current Wilderness First Aid and CPR qualification.
  • Knowledge of Outdoor Education processes and relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
  • Experience managing a team in the field of Outdoor Education.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skill.

Where: Kangaroo Valley, Hawkesbury, Killalea, Kiama, Myall Lakes, Tasmania, Bungonia, Wingello, Stanwell Tops, Berowra Waters, Royal NP.

  • Albion Park, NSW is our office base

Workload: Fulltime (38 hours per week within the field and the office).

Renumeration: From $52,378.56 per annum base wage.

Estimated total: Approx. $63,000.00 per annum based on average field loading, penalty rates, on call allowance, phone allowance and leave loading.
