Activities Supervisor

Apex Camps have been running school and group camps since 1983. With two unique, purpose-built camps located on the Sunshine Coast and Magnetic Island, they provide an extensive range of Outdoor Recreation Activities and programs specifically tailored to the needs of each group.  

This Activities Supervisor position is located at Twin Waters on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast and is responsible for overseeing the activities team while providing leadership and ongoing development for Apex Camps Activity Leaders, Activity Instructors and Activity Assistance.  With a new opportunity arising internally for the Apex Camps existing Activities Supervisor, this role has the benefit of established systems, a professional and engaged team and a hand over from the incumbent. 

The Activities Supervisor will be required to lead by example and out in the field delivering activities in-line with Apex Camps Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments while setting, monitoring and maintaining the current high customer service standards of Apex Camps activities department.

Scope & General Purpose of Position:
  • Provide camp activities following organisations Standard Operating Procedures .
  • Provide good customer relations, meeting the desired outcomes and objectives.
  • Supervising and Rostering of Activity staff
  • Adherence, development and reviewing of Apex Camps Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments.
  • Provide facilitation in a timely manner, meeting programme timelines. 
  • Form part of the professional team by providing high quality level of service and enjoyment to our groups.
  • Ensure Activities Department is operating within current work, health and safety standards as per operations manual.
  • Liaising with internal heads of department to ensure successful delivery for each group
This leadership role will require:
  • Operate in-line with and be an ambassador for the Apex Camps core values.
  • Collaboration with current CEO, Human Resource Coordinator and Activities Supervisor.
  • Leadership for activities department including Activities Leaders, Activity Instructors and Activity Assistants. Which will include one-on-one mentoring and development meetings and larger team meetings.
  • Adherence to and input into the ongoing development of Apex Camps Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments.
  • Ensure duties are operating within current work, health and safety standards and Australian Activities Standards guidelines.
  • Rostering of activities staff according to the activities itineraries of incoming guests/groups.   
  • Liaising with Apex Camps Administration/Bookings department.
The successful applicant will have:
  • Certificate III or IV in Outdoor Recreation or Certificate III or IV in Outdoor Leadership. (essential)
  • Experience in a similar team leadership role in the outdoor recreation/education sector (essential).
  • Must be able to contribute to and work with a wider supervisory/management team.
  • Must hold (be able to obtain) a current Blue Card.
  • Current Senior First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Continuous improvement approach.
  • Manual Driver’s License – LR or above preferred.
