Season: All year round
Level: 0.75m - 0.99m
Gauge: Yarra River at Warrandyte
Character: Park and Play
Suits: River runner or playboat
Police Station Wave is located at the end of Police Road in Warrandyte.
It's a perfect little wave that is very gentle and forgiving, great for beginner playboaters to learn to surf and spin. The river is quite shallow and the bank close by so rolling is not an essential skill for this feature. There are some strainers downstream to take into consideration. Due to eddie size, 4 is a large group for PSW.
Due to the level being fairly stable it has a wide window of opportunity to being paddled, if the Yarra Valley has had a good amount of rain PSW will be up 3-4 days later. No toilet or changing facilities, plenty of parking.
Putting In: Best put-in is to head down the bank where the wire stretches over the river about 30m upstream from carpark.
Taking Out: 2m below the wave.
