Summer Canyoning

Visiting the Blue Mountains in summer? December-February can be hot. Average temperatures are generally around 25-30°C (77-86°F) but can occasionally climb above 35°C (95°F). The villages in the mountains buzz with travellers and multiple canyoning trips depart almost every day (we’re closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day).

Canyoning is the perfect way to escape the heat and explore some of the most majestic, inaccessible landscapes in the Blue Mountains. Our advanced canyons are best experienced in summer when the days are long and the water isn’t too cold.

Canyoning is the perfect summer adventure and often involves a variety of activities including swimming, wading, jumping into pools (‘water-jumps’), abseiling through waterfalls, bushwalking and scrambling over rocks and boulders. The grandeur and pristine beauty of the canyons almost defies description. Carved over millions of years by the relentless action of running water, these geological treasures are unique to the Blue Mountains of NSW.
