- Salary of $100,000 - $110,000 p.a. pending professional experience plus superannuation
- Performance bonus pool of $10,000 available based on roles KPI’s

Introduction
Are you an experienced operations manager in the travel, outdoor education, tourism or events space? Do you have a history of leading a team to deliver dozens of programs to a very high standard? Do you enjoy managing staff and processes to ensure successful delivery of and improvements to programs?
Red Earth is looking for a driven, passionate individual, readily able lead a small team responsible for connecting young people to the First Nations homelands across the Northern Territory and New South Wales. This is an amazing chance to work at the heart of our organisation, at the cross-roads of tourism and the Indigenous space. This role is primarily office-based but with opportunity to travel to the operating regions in the Northern Territory and New South Wales.
Organisation Outline
We are a small social enterprise with 22 employees passionate about connecting groups people (predominately high school students) to remote First Nations Australia. We do this by create powerful immersion programs, between four to nine-day trips into remote First Australia communities and homelands where small groups learn from Elders and cultural educators, visit cultural sites, and volunteer on a service project in the community.
Role Outline
You will have support and autonomy to plan and deliver quality programs delivered in our Top End, Central Australia, Lake Mungo and Hawkesbury regions.
Main Responsibilities
1. Delivery: Helping to refine and execute processes to deliver excellent programs in the NSW & NT region.
- As we scale, you will continue to refine and execute our processes to make sure that each immersion program is delivered to the highest standard (i.e. nothing ‘falls through the cracks’).
- You will be responsible for the quality of programs delivered in your regions, making sure to deeply understand the operations involved in delivering Red Earth immersions.
- You will need to execute and manage our Office Travel Operations processes (the preparation that happens before an immersion program is ‘on-the-ground’, supplier management, program documentation) and our Field Operations processes (all the elements that make an immersion successful on the ground e.g. equipment, vehicles, First Nations partner relationships, part-time staff).
- Based on applicant’s experience and skill set, you will be required to:
i. Manage and deliver the Office Travel Operations for a select amount of immersion programs; and/or
ii. Manage aspects of the Field Operations across the Northern Territory and New South Wales region
- Provide on-call support for 6 - 8 weekends per year on-call supporting our immersion teams who are in the field (time in lieu is accrued for weekend work).
2. Staffing: help manage and hire full-time, part-time staff and casual staff.
- You will manage the current Office and Field Operations team to keep the team on track to deliver excellent immersions.
- Conduct performance review with your team and work with individuals on their professional development.
- Be heavily involved in the hiring and training of new employees in the team.
- Help organise and present at the yearly training event attended by the regional casual Immersion Leader staff
3. Client Relationships: Working alongside our School Partnership team to help provide an excellent client experience.
- You will be involved in onboarding major clients and the ongoing management of these relationships.
- You will be in regular contact with the Sales and Account Management teams and clients to understand their needs so our programs can be continuously improved and meet their goals.
4. Budgets: Directly involved in long-term strategy and financial viability.
- You will work closely with the Chief of Operations and Finance teams to set long-term growth and cost-management strategies.
- You will be responsible for maintaining delivery budgets, working closely with the Head of Operations.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Required: 3+ years management experience (teams of 6 or more people)
- Required: 5+ years field operations and project management experience
- Required: 5+ years’ experience in a similar industry (tourism, outdoor education, events, travel)
- Required: financial literacy and experiencing in maintaining budgets
- Desired: experience in start-up, high growth business-environments
