Lead Trainer - First Aid & Outdoor Safety

About the Role

The Lead Trainer will play a key role in delivering engaging and impactful outdoor safety and first aid programs to participants of all ages. Your primary focus will be on the delivery of training courses in both urban and bushland locations, primarily with teachers and school students. You’ll also assist with the design of new programs and the establishment of a new outdoor training facility in the Watagan Mountains.

What we offer
  • This is a full-time role 38hrs per week.
  • The total remuneration for this position is $70,000 (inc super).
  • A 2-year contract with annual completion bonuses
  • You’ll be provided with a 4wd vehicle for work-related travel, plus a laptop and mobile phone.
  • 8 weeks of paid annual leave per year
Key responsibilities
  1. Deliver high-quality training programs tailored to diverse groups.
  2. Facilitate activities using experiential learning principles and methods.
  3. Work as a solo trainer and lead small teams of other trainers.
  4. Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during all activities.
  5. Maintain equipment and manage logistical preparations for training programs.
  6. Collaborate with others to design and develop new programs
  7. Assist in the development and maintenance of a new outdoor training facility.
Essential skills
  • A solid understanding of first aid in urban, remote and wilderness environments.
  • Demonstrated experience co-ordinating outdoor activities and leading groups.
  • Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on risk management.
  • A creative and innovative mindset with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Good leadership and communication skills, with a natural ability to inspire others.
  • A passion for the outdoors and a commitment to promoting outdoor safety and community resilience.
Qualifications required
  • Certificate 4  Outdoor Leadership (or equivalent)   

and

  • Certificate 4 Training and Assessment (enrolled or willing to obtain)

or

  • a Secondary Teacher qualification
Accreditations required
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • NSW Working With Children Check
  • Drivers licence
